Whangarei Māori Land Court.

GHD Design

The ceiling design was unmistakably inspired by the way whare have been built for centuries, the design team remained true to its commitment to dynamic adaptation, through use of contemporary materials including Decortech Multigroove Perforation, it importantly enhances the acoustics of the courtroom space to provide a high performing space for court operations and hearings.

The use of real timber veneer creates an important focal point and is integral to creating the considered integration of traditional Māori design elements in a contemporary way.

The Firesafe MDF substrate of this product was important for the project to achieve building code compliance.
